When the Plan Doesn't Plan.

Hey there! Let’s chat about something we all experience: the excitement of setting big goals and, let’s be honest, the reality of not always hitting the mark. Back in January this year, I was ready to launch my blog with monthly topics and weekly posts. I had a whirlwind of ideas and the support of a social media assistant. It felt like the stars were aligned!

But, as life often does, things got a bit chaotic. Tasks piled up, and before I knew it, that ambitious plan crumbled in the whirlwind of daily responsibilities. Month one? A no-show, well, one post.

Now, I could sit here and let shame wash over me—after all, I had such a fun idea! But instead, I want to highlight the beauty of compassion in these moments. It’s crucial to remind ourselves that plans and goals are just that—plans. Life has a funny way of reminding us that our steps might not always be as realistic as we envisioned.

So, here’s the scoop: it’s okay to have big dreams and not always see them through. What matters is how we respond to these setbacks. Instead of berating ourselves, let’s shift our focus.

Think of each big idea as a seed. Just because it didn’t blossom this time doesn’t mean it won’t in the future. The key is to stay excited and supportive of ourselves. Start with small, manageable steps that feel right. Maybe instead of a weekly post, aim for one great idea each month, or even jot down thoughts as they come.

By allowing ourselves this grace, we create a nurturing space for our creativity to flourish without the weight of perfectionism. Embrace the detours, and remember: it’s not about the destination; it’s about enjoying the journey and learning along the way.

So here’s my plan moving forward: I’m committing to one blog post a month, on any topic that inspires me or someone asks about. I refuse to box myself in with self-limitations or expectations that I just can't meet. Instead, I want to embrace creativity and connect with my clients—and anyone else out there striving for compassionate self-care.

It's perfectly okay to take pauses and give ourselves permission to adjust our plans. Life is fluid, and so should be our goals. By allowing ourselves the freedom to explore different topics and take our time, we open the door to genuine connection and creativity.

Let’s celebrate the journey of self-discovery together, allowing for flexibility and growth along the way. Here’s to nurturing our ideas with kindness and curiosity—because after all, it’s not just about achieving our goals, but about how we take care of ourselves while pursuing them.
